How Much Video Will A 1 Gb Memory Card Hold On A Digital Camera?
I am thinking of buying a digital camera but if possible would like it to record in the region of 30 minutes worth of video.

A typical digital camera shooting a 640 x 480 at 30 fps burns up 1.7 megabytes per second.
So, 30 minutes is 1800 seconds.
Thus, 1800 seconds x 1.7 megabytes/sec = 3060 megabytes.
So, you’d need a 4 GB card to hold 30 minutes of video.
A 1 GB card will hold roughly 10 minutes of video, give or take a minute.
Note that there are different compression schemes, so you might be able to find one that’s slightly better, but this should give you a good guide.
Hi
my camera does the following on a 1gb card
640 setting = 14 minutes high quality
320 setting = 27 minutes medium quality
160 setting = over 2 hours low quality
Mine is a Nikon although I don’t know whether the make makes any difference.
! GB will hold 1 GB. It depends on your video quality that will determine how long that is. I think 30 min isnt very long so it should hold it at poor quality.
Mine does 30 mins or 45 on the lower setting
With average compression, a 1GB card will hold anywhere between 20-30 minutes of video.
